On This Date In California Weather History...
1990: Gusty winds up to 90 mph blew across the Kern County desert resulting in blowing dust and sand throughout the day with visibility near zero in many instances.
1972: Thunderstorms struck the Barstow and Helendale area with about a half inch of rainfall in a short time.
Several structures and many streets and yards were inundated with water and debris.
1972: A thunderstorm dropped 1.09" at Meadows Field in 45 minutes making it the wettest day ever in June in Bakersfield.
The thunderstorm produced wind gusts to 50 mph, washed out sections of Highway 178, and damaged automobiles and buildings.
One person was killed.
There was one report of 3.50" of rain in an hour in one part of the city.
1964: China Lake NAS clocked a 63 mph wind gust from the northwest.
