When the concern is about animals in disaster, one of the leading training (& response) non-profit organizations in the SoCal area is Noah’s Wish. They have a unit that includes a focused entire weekend of training, including sleeping on the “disaster” site and doing all of the functions involved in intake and care of actual animals. I don’t have it in front of me this particular moment, but I believe it’s www.NoahsWish.org. You’ll want to ask for Thea.

Kate,
CERT is wonderful and I highly recommend it.
Sometime down the road when I'm not so poor and busy I plan to heavily involve myself in it up here in Paso Robles.
My former girlfriend and former California Disasters co-owner Krissa did so up in the Willits-Ukiah area of Mendocino County and went as high up the CERT totem pole as becoming a certified CERT instructor, something I'd like to do as well.
Anywho, it is offered through your local fire departments be it Pasadena FD and/or LACoFD .... not sure which.

Hello CERT trainers, coordinators, members and advocates,
The CERT National Program Office is pleased to announce the release of
two new supplemental training modules, CERT Animal Response I and CERT
Animal Response II. The new Animal Response modules are the first in a
series of supplemental training modules building on the disaster
response training that program participants receive in the CERT Basic
Training course. The supplemental modules are designed to expand the
skills of CERT members and teams, and to increase CERT's ability to
support emergency response professionals. The Animal Response modules,
as well as other CERT supplemental training to be released in the
future, are intended for those who have completed the basic training.
