Initial Attack Activity was light in the GACC yesterday with 14 fires for 147 acres. There are currently 2 large fires burning in the GACC: Fuels are dry throughout the region. 1000 hour fuels are measured below 15 percent. Live fuel moistures are measured between 70 and 125 percent. During September and October North Ops commonly sees several large fires while initial attack activity continues. High pressure will be overhead through Saturday, producing a drying and warming trend. Afternoons will be dry with light winds and near normal temperatures. A light N-NE surface wind pattern will affect wind-prone areas from the lower western slopes of the Sierra to the coastal ranges, including the East Bay area. Those areas may see night and morning gusts in the teens with poor RH recovery. On Sunday an offshore low pressure trough will begin to deepen, producing an increasing S-SW flow over the North Ops region that will reach peak strength around midweek east of the Cascade-Sierra crest. |
