Canyon Fire has burned 5,100 acres and is 10% contained. 150 residences and 100 outbuildings are threatened. The fire is actively burning in brush on the east side of the fire, timber areas are experiencing group torching and crown movement.  The fire is wind driven and influenced steep terrain; this has resulted in a high rate of spread and spotting.  Old Kern Canyon Rd is closed.

Canyon Fire is still at 4,000 acres and 10% contained.  The fire is moving to the southeast and continued to burn actively through the night.  Safety concerns with steep ground and active fire behavior. Per the CHP, tavel is not recommended on Caliente Bodfish Road between SR 58 and Lake Isabella due to large amount of fire equipment in the area. On Hwy 178 only 1 lane is open in each direction.
