With the fire going active and evacuations taking place, this discussion is not appropriate for the main group at this time. Please move it to the discussion group, which I just did for you.

The size of a typical legion varied throughout the history of ancient Rome,
with complements of 4,200 legionaries and 300 equites in the republican
period of Rome, (the infantry were split into 30 maniples of 120 legionaries
each), to 5,200 men plus auxiliaries in the imperial period (split into 10
cohorts, 9 of 480 men each, plus the first cohort holding 800 men).
Not sure how many or what CDF type resources that translates to in 2010 CA
but I bet you can find lots of guys and gals in Gladiator gear

air atack wants the big boys tomorrow, not the little toys as far as the
air tankers. The seats are doing nothing for this fire.

Finally spoke to Janet @ Bald Eagle Ranch. She is surrounded by fire
trucks. The fire is on two sides of them. She expects to loose everything but
the main house. Bald Eagle Ranch is down in the Havilah valley on the
very north end.
