[californiadisasters] O/T: Oregon Tornadic Supercell Today
Today Oregon experienced a rare tornadic superscell (a supercell is a thunderstorm wherein the entire storm is rotating) which generated a damaging tornado and large hail.
Check this link for the really cool radar loop replete with "hook echo": http://www.wrh.noaa.gov/pqr/aumsville.php
The relevance of this to California? On occasion we get supercells as well, mostly found in the Central Valley, some of which are tornado-genic.
