Re: [californiadisasters] Record-High Temperatures Expected

LOL--No way, Sam.

I'll take the cold anyday. I'm no longer a summer person and the heat during that time works to keep me a prisoner in my own home. Amazing how our tolerance changes with time, as I used to be just the opposite. I have been going outside for brief periods in flip flops, and it's 25F so far with a wind chill of 14. This morning our wind chill was 7F and last night, -6F. My feet still never get cold. I swear I have Hobbit feet, sans the hair.

Re: landforms, it's so true that where we live has much to do with what to expect weatherwise. Here in the Mid-south/South, we are situated in a very unique area. We can receive an influx of Gulf moisture and experience anything from torrential rain to devastating twisters. The jet stream also dips south towards our area, especially during the winter, which translates into temperatures colder than average. Add the Gulf moisture to that wintertime dip and you have snow. The weather we're having is really no different than any other winter's weather, as anyone who lives here long enough will tell you: don't like the weather? wait 3 days and you'll get something different.

Hey Lin,
Our outlook here for tomorrow is 32C (89.6 degrees Fahrenheit!) 90% Humidity with late thunderstorms! Today was 34C (93.2 degrees Fahrenheit!) and 94% Humidity here with a late afternoon storm!!!
Want to swap Lin? Some of my English cousins, who have been snowed in for a week and a half in Northern Yorkshire, want me to mail a bucket full of heat and sunshine to them :-).

Holy Cow. Right now, I'm looking out my window at the snow falling, the wind is howling, the temp is 25 with a wind chill of 11 and tonight, we should reach a wind chill of -6. 80 degrees? Oh my word.

A high-pressure system is expected to push the heat into the mid-80s in many spots in Los Angeles County.
