A representative from New Mexico State University will be visiting Volcano Vista this Wednesday during lunch. Please stop by and see her between the E and F hall eateries for NMSU information!
10th-11th GRADERS Course Request Cards are DUE on WEDNESDAY during ADVISORY. Get your cards completed, including all signatures. Late returns decrease your chance to get the elective classes you want, so DON’T BE LATE!! 10th & 11th GRADER Course cards are due WEDNESDAY.
The FAFSA night has been rescheduled for Thursday, February 10th in the library. Stop by any time between 5:30 and 7:30 PM to get help filling out your Free Application for Federal Student Aid. If you are unable to attend this Thursday please check the website for more FAFSA events.
The ASVAB is scheduled for Tuesday, 15 February from 7:30 until noon in the lecture hall. Those who were scheduled for last week's test do not need to sign up again. Your Hawk absences will be processed. Any questions see Major Campbell in B154.
Winterball has been rescheduled for Friday, February 25th. Please hold on to your tickets if you have already purchased them. Tickets will go back on sale for $20.00 on the 22nd. Tickets will remain at $20 for the entire week.
If you have not returned any of your 1st semester textbooks a fine will NOW be put on your Volcano Vista High School account. RETURN ALL OVERDUE TEXTBOOKS NOW!
CLUBS:
- Did you know that 5,000 APS students are homeless? That’s one in every 16 students, or 2 people in each of your classes. You can donate a pair of jeans that will be distributed to homeless APS students AND receive a coupon for 25% off a new pair. Gather up all the unused jeans in your household and donate them in room E112 this week!
- Spanish National Honor Society meets at lunch today in room E112. We begin teaching at Tierra Antigua today, so everyone needs to be at the meeting. See you at lunch today in E112.
- Youth and Government is meeting today and Thursday in Mr. Wellman’s room (A216). Bring a lunch and we will get ready for our Santa Fe trip.
- Buy a Valentine for a friend or your sweetie! NHS will be selling valentine's in A, E/F, and H Halls Tuesday through Friday this week for a $1. You must know your Valentine's 7th period class and we will deliver it on Monday February 14th for you.
- There is a BSU meeting today Tuesday, February 8, 2011. Make sure you have the stuff required to go on the State legislature trip this Friday, February 11, 2011.
- Attention all Operation Smile members...there will be an important meeting at lunch today in Room A101. Hope to see you there!
- Any MESA member that did not pick up their permission slip and Hawk absence form for the district competition, please pick one up ASAP from either Ms. Conell in room F103 or Ms. Bitner in room H207. Reminder MESA will meet every day this week after school in Mr. G's room tocomplete their projects.
- Operation Smile will be selling popcorn at lunch on Wednesday, outside the Activities Office. Support Operation Smile AND get delicious, fresh popped popcorn!
ATHLETICS:
- ALL CROSS COUNTRY RUNNERS, OR THOSE INTERESTED IN RUNNING CROSS COUNTRY IN THE FALL, NEED TO STOP BY COACH GILMORE'S ROOM, F104, TODAY AT LUNCH (REPEAT TWICE!!!).
- The Volcano Vista girl's tennis team will hold varsity tryouts starting today (Monday) after school at Sierra Vista. Tryouts will be held Monday through Friday from 3:30 to 5 this week and next. All players must have a current physical form to participate.
- Girls track season has officially started out on the track right after school. If you would like to join girl track come out and practice, make sure you have a physical or have an appointment set to get a physical. Physicals are due by the end of February, beginning of March. There is also a mandatory parent meeting Thursday, February 10 at 6 PM in the freshman commons area. The new girls track coaches will be introduced at this time.
- Boys Basketball plays at Cibola on tonight at 7 PM lets see if we can black-out their gym
