[californiadisasters] Summer's coming

Even as we've been mentioning the worry about snowmelt now that summer's
coming, the Pacific's first hurricane has formed. Adrian is off the coast of
Mexico.

Adrian poses no threat to land, and is probably not newsworthy. However, to
me it underlines the fact that summer is nearly here, with all the attendant
natural risks.

(And that reminds me that we in CA, especially SoCal, are extremely unlikely
to ever see disaster on the scale of the recent Mississippi area flooding or
tornados from OK east to the Atlantic. Well, unless we get The Big One quake
and it does turn out to be big.)
