1998: It was 94° in Big Bear Lake, the highest temperature on record.
This also occurred on this date in 1972 and on 7.18.2005.
1984: Thunderstorms in the afternoon brought heavy rains to the Kern County portion of the southern Sierra.
Flooding occurred in Goat Ranch Creek with 5 homes damaged.
1972: It was 94° in Big Bear Lake, the highest temperature on record.
This also occurred on this date in 1998 and on 7.18.2005.
1972: Lodgepole in Sequoia National Park reached 91°, establishing an all-time record high for any month (also set on July 18, 1998).
1955: The high temperature in Fresno reached 102°.
There were only the 4 days all month where the mercury reached into the triple digits in Fresno, which tied 1903 for the least number of days of 100° or better in the month of July.
The average temperature in July 1955 was 76.2°, making it the coolest July in Fresno records.
