Farmers and ranchers in San Luis Obispo County also qualify for natural disaster assistance because the county borders Santa Barbara County.
Being designated as a natural resource area means the counties can apply for low-interest emergency loans from USDA's Farm Service Agency. Farmers in the eligible counties have eight months to apply for the loan to help cover their losses.
Other areas included on the list are: Imperial, Ventura, Los Angeles, Riverside, and San Diego Counties.
