Firefighters Battle Mulch Pile Blaze in Orange County

More than 100 firefighters battled on Sunday a fire that broke out at a mulch pile in a rural area of Orange County.

The fire started after 10 a.m. in the 27900 block of Baker Canyon in Silverado Canyon.

The fire had burned more than 30 acres as of Sunday afternoon, officials said.

A firefighter was sent to a hospital with an ankle injury, but there were no other reports of injuries.

No homes were damaged, but an outhouse was burned.

The fire broke out during a weekend of extreme fire danger as a combination of dry heat and high winds made for "tinderbox" conditions.

The area that burned was in Silverado Canyon, in the Cleveland National Forest.
