Thursday 12/19/13, B-day final exams
Friday 12/20/13, C-day make up final exams, as scheduled through administration or for excused absences only from Wednesday & Thursday. Buses will run on the regular schedule and sack lunches will be available for students who need to attend on Friday.
Attention staff and students - our winter staff/student challenge will be Monday, January 6-Friday, January 10. We will have a volleyball tournament that week and encourage students and staff to sign up for this event next week in the activities office. Sign ups will be during lunch in the activities office the week of finals. Must have teams of 6, which can be all students, all staff or a mix of staff and students. Games will start on Monday, January 6 at lunch in the main gym. Each team must pay $1 per player and are guaranteed games on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Thursday and Friday will be championship play with the finals happening at the assembly on Friday.
Attention students – Volcano Vista's student ambassadors will be kicking off the spring semester with daily lunch activities in the north mezzanine of the gym Monday, January 6 - Thursday, January 9. Come out to the north mezzanine (where you played hockey in PE) and enjoy the daily activities. Monday's event will be an ice-cream social; Tuesday's event will be an art activity; Wednesday's event will be a fashion theme activity and Thursday's event will be a tolerance activity. Come one – come all.
DRIVERS ED: If you are interested in enrolling in driver's ed for the spring semester, please listen carefully. An announcement will be made regarding registration during the first week of the spring semester. That announcement will direct you to the activities office, which will have a sign-up sheet and an information/permission slip. Enrollment priority is given to those who qualify and who return signed permission slips consistent with the directions you will find on those slips. Please note that the class meets after regular school hours, 2:35-3:40 Monday through Thursday, for the entirety of the semester once class starts.
Seniors: You must choose your pose for the yearbook by December 20th. For more information contact Mr. Woods in A115. Don't forget you can still order your yearbook online and senior ads are still available for purchase. You can pick up a form in the Activities Office.
COUNSELING:
Seniors, if you haven't done so already now is the time to apply for college to begin next fall. You can apply even if you have not yet taken the ACT or SAT. Review the Senior Timeline you received at the Senior workshop to make sure you are on track.
ATHLETICS:
- G Basketball had wins over Highland, Manzano and Eldorado last week. They play at home Friday vs. Albuquerque High and Saturday at Valley.
- B. Basketball had wins over AHA, West Mesa and Palo Duro. They play at home Saturday vs. Highland
- Swim meet on Saturday at West Mesa Pool.
- Wrestling APS Invite on Friday and Saturday
- Congratulations to our Varsity Cheerleaders for placing 2nd Place at the Metro Cheer Event this past weekend.
