1987: It was 108° in LA on 10.3 and on this day, the record high temperature for October.

1980: Fresno reached 102 degrees for a high temperature, highest on record for the month of October.

1980: The high temperature at Lovelock, NV was 92.

1980: It was 110° in Borrego Springs, the latest date in the season to record 110° or higher.

1973: The morning low temperature at Reno, NV was 20.

1953: It was 106° in Escondido, the highest temperature on record for October.
This also occurred the next day on 10.5.

1925: 2.95 inches of rain fell at San Diego, the second greatest daily amount on record and the greatest daily amount on record for October.
3.24 inches of rain fell starting on this day and ending on 10.5, the greatest 24-hour amount on record for October.

1917: Record high minimum temperature at Fresno for the month of October set, 69 degrees.
