A December heat wave is in the forecast for the Los Angeles area this weekend, with highs predicted in the 80s.

Morning fog will burn off to sunny skies, the National Weather Service reports. The warm conditions come from offshore winds that could produce gusts of up to 35 mph in some canyons and passes. Lows will be in the 50s.

Wind advisories have been issued for the Santa Clarita Valley and Santa Monica Mountains, among other places.

The warm weather will continue Monday -- with temperatures then dropping later in the week.
