RE: [californiadisasters] Re: Nationwide Test of the Emergency Alert System in 2 Minutes!

My take on it is that the tests have been required but without recourse.  Much like the Fire Department can review that a school has had monthly fire drills.  But the results or problems are not inspected, just that they HAD the fire drills.

The broadcast stations are responsible for the tests, as required.  (Who follows up on failure or records successes?)  This was the first time the entire network has been tested as one unit.  I would have been shocked, amazed and concerned if the entire network passed the test on the first try.

However, thanks to the media (and this and other Yahoo groups), warning had been given to the entire country of the impending test.  The didn’t want another “War of the Worlds” panic.  The warning was on TV, radio, internet, newspapers, satellite radio and I’m sure any other places I hadn’t been exposed to recently.  So your Governor can grandstand for politics, but there is no excuse for not having heard about it over the last month or more.  It don’t wash.

Gov. = Government, meaning US Gov. Sorry I wasn’t clear. Our Governor isn’t happy about the Feds leaving his state out.
