Dear volcanophiles and friends,

the 6th paroxysm of Etna volcano in 2011 occurred last night (19 July) from the (former) pit crater on the SE flank of the SE crater - now as good as a new summit crater in its own right.
Tom Pfeiffer, who is guiding a small group tour of VolcanoDiscovery, and the group were lucky to be able to witness the peak phase of the eruption from a good viewpoint on the southern rim of the Valle del Bove.
