Tuesday we will be on a long advisory schedule.
There will be a short assembly in the gym at the end of second period to recognize our Mock Trial State Champions. Please attend with your second period class. After the recognition, seniors will go to the PAC and the underclassmen will stay to hear the speeches of the students running for Student Body Officer. At the end of the speeches all students will be sent back to second period to pick up their backpacks and go to their advisory.
Juniors Prom is right around the corner. Any junior interested in being on prom court this year please stop by the activities office and fill out an application. You must have a minimum of a 2.0 GPA. Applications are due to the activities office by Thursday, April 5th.
Junior class will meet in A101 on Wednesday to finalize Prom logistics.

NHS Members: Remember that the NHS cleanup is this week. You must participate to complete your semester requirements. Seniors meet Monday and Wednesday and Juniors meet Tues and Thursday at the A Hall office 15 minutes before lunch ends. Don't Forget!
Any student interested in running for a class office for the class of 2013, 2014, or 2015 please stop by the activities office and fill out an application. There will be a mandatory candidate meeting in the activities office on Thursday during lunch.
Any students interested in being in senate next year stop by the activities office and fill out an information form.
Any junior that is interested in attending Boys or Girls State please stop by the activities office for more information. This year Boys State will run from May 27 - June 1, 2012 and Girls State will run from June 3 - 8, 2012. Both sessions will take place at ENMU in Portales, NM. Each student that attends the sessions will earn 3 Transferable College Credits at no cost to him or her. There is a $30 application fee for Girls State and a $25 application fee for Boys State. The American Legion covers all other expenses.

MESA, the math and science club will meet today in Ms. Conell's room F103. We will be finalizing our Expolora fieldtrip and talking about officer elections for next year. Everyone is welcome.
On Wednesday, April 4, 2012 from 6pm 8pm at the Albuquerque High School Lecture Hall there will be a military service academy information night. We will have representatives from each of the four service academies (US Military Academy, Naval Academy, Air Force Academy, and the Merchant Marines), as well as our University ROTC programs, to speak about their respective programs and to answer questions from students and parents. We will have staff on hand to walk students through the process of applying for a nomination from Senator Udall's office, as well as the other nomination sources available.
Someone in the US needs blood every 3 seconds. More than 350 donations are needed each day to meet patient needs in the New Mexico service area. Volcano Vista is hosting a Blood Drive on Saturday April 14th from 10 am to 2 pm. If you are 16 years old you can donate with permission from your parents but the parent permission form is not required if you are 17 or older. Sign ups are by appointment only so please visit the ROTC conference room during lunch to lock in your time. It doesn't cost anything and just 45 minutes of your time can save another person's life."
DO YOU WANT YOUR ARTWORK TO BE PART OF THE VVHS PERMANENT DISPLAY? Now is your opportunity to submit a piece of your original artwork to the awards committee at VVHS. The committee will choose one 2D and one 3D piece to be purchased for VVHS. The student artists whose work is selected will receive a $100 honorarium from the VVHS Parent Advisory. Congressional Art Competition 2012: U.S. Representative Martin Heinrich will once again sponsor the Congressional Art Competition, "100 Years of New Mexico Traditions," for high school students throughout the First Congressional District of NewMexico. The deadline for submission is Monday, April 30, 2012. For more information please stop by the Activities Office.
If anyone lost or had an I-Pod stolen on Wednesday the 28th, contact Sgt. Sprunk to identify one that was located.

Congratulations to our Newspaper and Yearbook staffs for placing 2nd in the New Mexico Scholastic Press Association State competition.
ATHLETICS
- Softball and Baseball both have games at Eldorado tomorrow at 4.
- Tennis competes against LaCueva tomorrow at 3:30. The boys are at home and the girls are at LaCueva.
