George Fire CA-SQF-1384 National Monument, Sequoia National Forest  

Central Sierra Type 2 IMT (Cooper) remains in command.

Burned: 1,800, Containment: 55%                      

Fire crews who spend the night on the fire line observed little fire activity.  Today the fire suppression activity will be focused on completing fire line in the steep and rugged terrain on the northeast and southeast parts of the fire.  Air support operations will continue to help crews in line construction   Ground resources and crews continue fire line suppression repair on parts of the fire where the fire line has been completed.  Helicopters continue to support the fire crews on the ground with water drops and logistical support on the fire line.  Demob is expected to increase at a steady pace today as some portions of fire go into patrol status.

Fire remains at 1,800 acres, 45% contained. Central Sierra Type 2 IMT (Cooper) remains in command. Four IHC's were inserted to the tough piece of ground going direct keeping it from getting further into the Little Kern River A tentative demob of resources is expected to begin within the next 24 hours.

otherwise low fire behavior.

28 Miles East of Porterville, Giant Sequoia National Monument

The Central Sierra IMT (IC Cooper) assumed command.

Fire has burned 800 acres of mixed conifer & brush and is 25% percent contained

Traffic control continues on the Lloyd meadow road.

Due to poor visibility air support was grounded until 11:00hrs.

The threat remains to natural, historic landmarks and 1 commercial building.

The fire is reported to be burning away from the George Bush Tree and the Freeman Creek Grove.

Fire has burned approximately 522 acres and is 35 % percent contained

Some smoldering piles of agriculture are putting up slight smoke

Ground resources continue mop up and overhaul of heavy fuels.

Incident anticipated moving to patrol status later today

High temperatures (104*) forecast for today

Road Closure Angeles Crest Highway (2)

Potential Impact to residents that live in the High Desert and

commute to Los Angeles. This road is highly traveled.

 It is likely to remain closed until November as crews continue to

repair major road damage caused by heavy winter storms

A tentative in briefing is scheduled today at 10:00 hrs and a transition planned this evening at 18:00

350 acres of mixed conifer & brush and is 35% contained

Rapid rate of spread with fire spotting ¼ mile ahead of main fire

A Type 3 Inc Organization (IC Jay Enns) in command with a

a Type 2 IMT (Cooper) requested.

An immediate road closure and evacuations have been

issued for the Lloyd Meadow road area including both Jerky trailhead and Forks of the Kern trailheads. No recorded fire activity in the Freeman Creek Giant Sequoia Grove in over 140 years.

28 Miles East of Porterville, Giant Sequoia National Monument

Fire has burned an estimated 150 acres and 50 percent contained.

The fire began in the Freeman Creek Giant Sequoia Grove located in the

Giant Sequoia National Monument, Sequoia National Forest.

Banner Fire CA-MVU-5400 Shelter Valley, Fire has burned 5,321 acres and is 100 % contained. The fire will transfer from Incident Management Team 9 to the San Diego Unit today tentatively at 0800 hrs. today.

Banner Fire CA-MVU-5400 Shelter Valley, Cal Fire IMT #9 (Zombro) Fire has burned 5,321 acres and is 95 % contained. No expected fire spread this operational period. 

 

Range Fire (CA-LPF-1250) Near Frazier Park as of 1630, 8 acres, 80 % contained, continuing mop up and patrol.  Given current situation, fire should be called out by 6/2.

Banner Fire  CA-MVU-5400 Shelter Valley, Cal Fire IMT #9 (Zombro) Fire has burned 5,321 acres and is 90 % contained. No expected fire spread this operational period. 

 

Lake pointe Fire (CA-RRU-42340) Near Lake Mathews contained at 60 acres.  All aircraft released and equipment demobing.

utilizing helicopter support due difficult and inaccessible terrain.

Fire is burning in grass and light brush

A portion of ICT #9 (Zombro) has been assigned to assist with

Finance and logistics to support incident.

The evacuation order was rescinded with residents returning.

Hwy 78 has been re-opened. ICP has been set up at Puerta la Cruz Camp.
