The National Weather Service received reports of a funnel cloud in southern Tehama County this evening, spurring it to issue a brief tornado warning for the area south east of Red Bluff.

The warning expired at 7:15 p.m. Radar showed the threat had diminished greatly.

The area is to the southeast of Red Bluff, near Dairyville.

Drew Peterson, a meteorologist with the Weather Service, said there was one funnel cloud reported, though there was no confirmation of the funnel cloud touching the ground.

He said he doesn't know how strong the funnel cloud was. It had extended down around two-thirds the distance from the sky to the ground, he said.

Tehama County authorities have not reported any damages from the funnel cloud.

Two tornadoes struck Tehama County in February, doing some damage in Gerber and Vina. Read more about those twisters here: http://www.redding.com/news/2013/feb/19/two-twisters-hit-north-state/?partner=RSS
