[californiadisasters] Help Los Angeles: Become a Crisis Response Team Volunteer

Dear Friend of the LAFD,

Your Los Angeles Fire Department encourages City of Los Angeles residents to join the Mayor's Crisis Response Team (CRT) volunteer program.

Overseen by the Office of Mayor Eric Garcetti, Crisis Response Team volunteers are professionally trained to provide immediate on-scene crisis intervention, emotional support and referrals to victims and families involved in traumatic incidents such as:

  • Abused/Neglected Children
  • Homicides
  • Death Notification
  • Major Car Accidents
  • Drive-by Shootings
  • Natural Deaths
  • Fires
  • Suicides
The Mayor's Crisis Response Team (CRT) is activated by the LAPD or LAFD following a traumatic event, crime or disaster - when people often feel helpless, confused or are in emotional shock.

Deploying specially trained CRT volunteers allows emergency personnel to resume their primary duties, while ensuring victims and their families are provided with support and counsel for as many hours as they need.

Bilingual volunteers are strongly encouraged to apply, especially those with Spanish, Korean, Armenian, Farsi, Chinese and Tagalog language skills. The Fall training will take place Monday & Wednesday evenings from 6:30 PM to 9:30 PM, between September 9 and October 23, 2013.
