Yearbooks are here. You may pick up your book during lunch today in the ROTC room. You must have your student ID to pick up your book. You may also purchase a book for $70.00 during lunch. We still have a few books left from 2013 and 2012 that you may purchase for $20.00.
The semester grand prize Drawing for SOAR CARDS will be Tuesday, May 6. The winners will be announced on the morning announcements. The grandprize winner will receive a lap-top computer, 2nd and 3rd Place will get IPod Nanos. Get your cards turned in to any academy office or library by Tuesday, May 6 at 7:30AM.
National Honor Society will be holding a meeting on Monday May 12 in Ms. Green's room E214 all Junior and Sophomore member please attend.
Hawkword Moments, VVHS's Literary Magazine is finished! Come by room H219 to pick up your copy for $5. If you submitted a piece of art to the magazine, come by and pick it up.
The library will be closed from May 5th until the end of the semester. Students and teachers need to make other arrangements for their library needs. All library books are due now.
Attention Safe School Ambassadors for Wells and Jones: If you have not picked up your letter from Mrs. Wells yet, you need to stop by her room A202 as soon as possible.
Attention Class of 2014: There will be a short meeting in Mrs. Wells' room on Wednesday at lunch.
SENIORS:
Seniors! Please don't forget to order your final transcript to the college of your choice. Make sure you write FINAL on your request and there is a one dollar fee per transcript. Without your final transcript your college may put a hold or drop your classes. Avoid stress and delay and order your final transcripts in the main office. Transcripts will not be available until June so order before you graduate. Any questions please see Mrs. Ewing in D202.

COUNSELING:
Counselors will be available to register students for Summer School in the Academy offices beginning May 2, 2014 through May 23, 2014 during school hours. This year summer school is being offered at La Cueva HS, Rio Grande HS, eCademy and the Career Enrichment Center (CEC). This year's cost is $250 per ½ credit. ATHLETICS:
Congratulations to the boys track team and their strong 3rd place finish at the Metro Championships last Thursday and Friday. Individual champions include Senior Mike Budick in the shot put, and Sophomore Taran Robinson in the 200. The 4x400 meter relay team of Senior Robert Peele, Junior Matt Andrew, Sophomore Ray Roberson, and Freshman Abram Schaap finished second and set a new school record with a time of 3 minutes and 23.15 seconds. Today – Friday: All boys Junior Varsity members need to turn in their uniform to Coach Gilmore (F212) by Friday. Also, the Boys track and Field awards ceremony will be held Monday, May 19th at 6:00PM in the PAC.
Baseball – Wins over Cibola and Rio Rancho - #5 Seed in State Tournament Play Friday at 4PM at VVHS and Saturday at 10AM vs. Onate.
Softball - Win over Cibola and lost to Rio Rancho - #3 Seed in State Tournament Play Friday at 4PM at VVHS vs. Valley.
B. Tennis – Strong showing at district tournament - compete in State Tennis this Wednesday and Thursday
GirlsTennis – Donna Shockley won the district title - compete in State Tennis this week Wednesday-Saturday
G. Track –4th Place at Metro Track Meet – District Track Meet Friday and Saturday at Cleveland High School
Golf – Boys and Girls took 3rd Place at District Tournament – Compete next Monday and Tuesday at State Golf in Socorro, NM.
There is a mandatory meeting for all wrestlers in wrestling room today at lunch.
Attention any students interested in trying out for the cheer team. There will be an informational meeting today, May 6 during lunch in the Main Gym. If you have questions, please refer to the cheer website on the VVHS website. Information will be posted there shortly.
