[californiadisasters] Technically-Speaking a Santa Ana... But Kinda Not



Excerpted from article in O.C. Register's Science Dude column this morning:

"In Fremont Canyon, gusts up to 58 mph were recorded early Thursday, said Weather Service meteorologist Tina Stall.

But the winds, caused by high-pressure air over the Great Basin flowing toward the coast, do not amount to the classic "Santa Ana wind" pattern, she said.

"They're not dry enough or hot enough," she said, and will not significantly increase wildfire danger."
