08/23/2011 | 1515 | Latest computer model guidance this morning and new satellite data suggest a significant change in the forecast for tomorrow. We are now anticipating a high-based lightning outbreak across parts of the region. Mid level moisture will move up the coast and into the Mendocino region by Wednesday morning. Isolated thunderstorms are possible as early as then across some of the north coastal mountains. However, by early afternoon, thunderstorm activity should become a bit more widespread closer to the Oregon and Nevada borders as the moisture moves further north. For this reason we have issued a High Risk for Lightning across Northeastern CA (NC06) and the Eastside (NC08) for Wednesday. Otherwise continued seasonably dry thru the 7-day period...with some NW to W winds of 15-30 mph on Friday with another drier low moving across the area. That low could produce an isolated thunderstorm but lacks the moisture to do much else at this point. |
