This fire, name unknown, is not on the InciWeb page, but may be a part of the Santa Lucia Lightning Complex. It is not the fire near Gorman (info below).
Incident Overview
Several fires which were caused by lightning have been reported in or near the Los Padres National Forest. The majority of these fires are in the Santa Lucia and Mt. Pinos Ranger Districts. Ground and aerial fire suppression resources from the U.S. Forest Service and other fire agencies have been dispatched to the fires.
Detection of new fires is not always immediate, as they may smolder under thick vegetation for several hours or even days.
There have been active thunderstorms within all fire perimeters.
Access for firefighters to the Hurricane Fire is limited, as crews must travel via helicopter to reach the fire.
The Buckhorn Fire also has limited access via roads that must be improved in order for firefighters to gain access.
There has been active fire behavior on all of the fires, as well as active thunderstorms in all areas, with some precipitation, but not enough to extinguish the currently burning fires.
Figueroa campground has been evacuated.
Due to the limited access to the fires for fire suppression equipment and crews, Sierra Madre and Happy Canyon Road are currently closed to the public.
