Notes:		On this date in 1966 the El Cariso Hotshots were fighting a Santa Ana Wind-driven wildfire in the foothills above San Fernando in Pacoima Canyon. A spot fire developed below them as they worked mid-slope with no safety zone and they were quickly enveloped in a blow-up situation. Ten hotshots were killed at the scene and two others later died of their burns and most of the remaining 19 members were critically burned.
