Re: [Geology2] Quartzite 2012 - Early Bird Gets The Worm

Your blog on your two days in Quartzite, AZ brought back some very sweet memories of the times I went there.  Spending the whole day, each and every day, just exploring through all the displays, talking to the vendors, making friends.  Spent some serious money there too, but very well worth it.  Like you, I very intensely hate to see all the dyed agates and heat treated amethyst crystals.  They looked very fake and I can't understand how people can want to have these things on display.  I would much rather have the natural look.  Of course, whenever I go to a gem and mineral show, I always head straight to the unpolished displays first.  <sigh>  There is really nothing like going to an outdoor gem and mineral show and I haven't found any here in the Kansas City area.  Miss that about not being in Arizona.

Got rather envious of you being able to go to Quartzite.  Too bad you had to leave early due to no more room in the vehicle.  Always had that problem myself whenever I went there.
