The fire began in the late afternoon, burning desert scrub near a residential neighborhood and was contained later that evening.

1958: A heavy rainstorm struck the northern Inland Empire on 4.2 and on this day.
2.8" fell in San Bernardino and 2.25" in Redlands.
Heavy runoff caused flooding in San Bernardino, Fontana and in Hesperia-Apple Valley.
Creeks exceeded banks and numerous roads were blocked by water, mud and boulders.
1958: 44" of snow fell at Truckee, with 42" being reported at Tahoe City.
1945: It was 20° in Victorville, the lowest temperature on record for April.
1928: Fresno began a 214 day stretch without measurable rain, the longest such streak on record here.
1921: Santa Maria established a record overnight monthly low with 28°.
