You are walking a very fine line to slander. I am not ignorant nor have I ignored what is happening around us all, hardly so as it was part of my primary business for more than 30 years. You would be hard pressed to find a bigger techno-geek on this list or one with greater knowledge of emergency communications; in the proper use, installation and repair of the equipment. I have used, trained, installed and repaired radios for decades, both commercial and ham. I have taught classes on emergency communications and ham radio is only one option, CB is not.
Just because I do not bow down to your almighty 'wisdom' on this subject, does not mean that I have not taken a fresh look at CB. In fact, I have recently and found that it wasn't improved over the last twenty or so years. In fact it has been degraded. A turd is still a turd no matter how nicely you wrap it. All the pretty bows you want to add won't make it smell any better.
As a techo-geek I use what works, not what has failed miserably. CB has failed entirely as an emergency communication system. It is rife with potty mouthed hooligans and wannabe radio operators/broadcasters and those too lazy to take a simple test to gain a license (that numerous children have successfully passed). CB does not serve any useful purpose except as a gathering place for those of similar mindset. I can be more specific but I have taken great pains to express myself clearly and without slander, unlike you.
If you like it, use it. That's no skin off my arse and I couldn't care less.
For true valid and professional emergency communication planners, CB radio is not an option. For fringe groups, it's their choice.
Now, for the last time, drop it as this discussion has run its course and it's time to move on. If you are still offended, then you are certainly welcome to leave the group. If you choose to continue this line of insulting commentary, you will be removed from the group.

Its pretty sad to see such ignorance and slander against a group that has been around, and still is, since 1962. If cb works in a small or rural town then so be it.
