| 08/22 | 0800 | Rim Fire, CA-STF-2857, Tuolumne County, FRA 53,866 acres, 2% contained Central Sierra Type 2 Incident Management team (Cooper) is in Unified Command with CALFIRE. Fire has established itself in the Cherry Creek Drainage just west of North Mountain lookout. Fire operations have begun on Ferretti Rd. as the fire progresses west towards the community of Pine Mountain Lake. Fire continues northwest spread and has burned past Grapevine Creek, continuing to burn north of Sugar Loaf Mountain Heli spot. Fire continues up Tuolumne River canyon and spread north and east. Immediate threat to electrical power sources south of Tuolumne River, State Hwy 120, and north entrance of Yosemite. Southeast Blue team will in-brief at 0900 and will start shadowing process for transition. Gobblers Fire, CA-BDF-11417, San Bernardino County 192 acres, 45% contained. Southern California Incident Management Team 1 (Walker) assumed command of the incident today. Fire will continue to roll out and make uphill runs. Fire remained active through the night spreading an additional 20-40 acre. Fire was pushed by strong down canyon winds with no natural barriers to check its spread. Shirley Complex CA-SQF-3229, Kern County, FRA 895 acres, 78% contained. (Tenant Fire 441 acres, 80% contained. Shirley Fire 454 acres and 76% contained.) Type 1 team (Pincha-Tulley) is in command. Team has been providing IA resources to the Kern River Ranger District with a plan to transition IA response at 0800. Fire is smoldering and creeping. Crews mopped up and constructed dire line when able in Shirley Fire. Tenant Fire was in patrol status. Shirley fire is being supported logistically in Kernville and Tenant fire in Porterville. Highway 178 remains closed into Kern River valley. Alder Creek Rd and Campground and Evans Flat Campground are closed. Voluntary evacuations in Shirley Meadows area have been lifted. Spring Peak NV-HTF-30475, Mineral County 14,200 acres 68% contained Type 3 Team (Brown) is in command of this incident. BLM, Bishop Field Office, CALFIRE, and USFS supporting this incident with resources. Fire West, Southwest, Southeast spread potential reduced as containment lines are being created.
