Re: [californiadisasters] San Francisco-area building demolition fuels quake study



The safety issue was of even higher than normal concern after what happened in Bakersfield earlier this Summer when a demolition of a large structure shot fragments of metal outside the planned danger zone and amputated one person's leg.

THis is down the hill from where I am and I was impressed to see the Safety that went into planning this demo.
I will miss this building, not an eyesore but an actual Landmark visible for miles and you knew where the campus was immediately.

Even from our BART electric train. It will be missed somewhat but when I was on campus, the HVAC seemed non-existent. 
Even flying over from OAK or HWD. When I was there, it was Cal State Hayward. New building will not have the height.
