I understand that sometimes folks use planes to carry them in...esp where there are no roads.. but that would be expensive I bet. Well i envy you. Someday....:) Allison

You have NO idea. ;o) The further north we went, the better things looked. The tundra fields are spectacular in the late summer (fall is starting there now). Considering there isn't a bad view anywhere in Alaska (outside of the cities) that's saying something.
We made it to Coldfoot, about half way up the haul road. There was no guaranteed fuel at the end for a return trip so that's as far as we could go this trip. We drove the 'easy' half (mud, rocks, mostly graded) and the truck has the rock chips to prove it. Next time I'll have to figure out how to make sure I can carry an extra 50 gallons of fuel to complete the trip (it already carries that much; it's a LONG slow drive).
I'll also have to pack camping gear in the RV, it'll take a couple days each way.
