Eclectic Arcania highly recommends viewing this nearly half-hour documentary short film about the deteriorating situation in the Western U.S. as it pertains to wildfires, forest management, and human encroachment into fire ecosystems. The emphasis of this film is on Colorado but the principle applies to California just as much:
