The Colby Incident started approximately at 0555 in the morning in the vicinity of Glendora Mountain Road and the Colby Trail.
January 18 2014 - Evacuations for the community of Mountain Cove will be lifted at 6:00 PM. Highway 39 will remain closed and open to residents only.

| Remarks | Evacuations were lifted for the Community of Mountain Cove at 6:00 PM. January 18, 2014. No evacuation are currently in place. Highway 39 is currently Closed to the public, and is only open to residents. Southern California Incident Management Team 3 is managing the fire and is still under the Unified Command between the USDA Forest Service, Los Angeles County fire Department, LA County Sheriff, and Azusa Police Department. Resources: 45 hand crews, 100 engines, 3 helicopters, 5 dozer, 8 fixed wing aircraft, and 3 heli-tankers. *Note: The number of resources above include assets from all cooperators. Planned Actions A Press Conference will be held at the base camp at Santa Fe Dam on 1/17/14 at approximately 1630 hours.
Terrain Difficulty Steep Slopes
Remarks Jan. 17: Sierra Madre Police Department will reopen the entrance to Santa Anita Canyon at 3 p.m.
Jan. 17: At 4 p.m., evacuations will be lifted for residents only, north of Sierra Madre Road from Yucca to Ranch, which includes the Mirador and Crystal Canyon communities.
