Flu Death Toll Rises in Bay Area, California

The flu has claimed the lives of more Bay Area residents in Alameda and San Mateo counties, which now each have a total of five deaths apiece, both of which were reported this week.
That brings the Bay Area tally to 36 flu-related deaths this winter season.
Dr. Ron Chapman of the California Dept. of Public Health, said on Friday that the number of deaths statewide has jumped by 56 to a total of 202 confirmed deaths for the season. Four of those deaths were of young children.
Here's a Bay Area county-by-county breakdown:
- Santa Clara County - 10 deaths
- Alameda County - 5 deaths
- Marin County - 2 deaths
- San Mateo County - 5 deaths
- San Francisco - 3 death
- Contra Costa County - 5 deaths
- Solano County - 1 death
- Sonoma County - 4 deaths
- Napa County - 1 death
