[californiadisasters] On This Date In California Weather History (November 10)



2002: A potent early-season storm split tree limbs, bowled over fences and snapped power lines around the north state Thursday.
The front dumped more than 6" of rain in the mountains northwest of Redding, dousing the 2002 fire season.

2000:
A tornado touched down in southeast Poway.
Damage was done to eight houses, trees were uprooted and knocked down, and vehicles were moved.

1997: A waterspout came ashore at Newport Pier, becoming a tornado.
It quickly dissipated over western Costa Mesa.
Winds were estimated at 60 to 70 mph.
There were minor power outages and little damage.
A fisherman was blown from one end of the Newport pier to another.

1994: Blowing dust reduced visibility to near zero on Interstate 5 near Coalinga.

1985: 24" of snow fell at Truckee, CA, with 20" of snow at Glenbrook, CA.
At Reno, NV, 15.2" of snow was reported from this early-season snowstorm.

1985:
A storm system drops 3" of snow at Randsburg.

1982: 12" of snow fell in Idyllwild, the greatest daily snowfall on record for November.
This also occurred on 11.28.1975.

1980: Dense fog in San Bernardino led to an Interstate 15 freeway accident involving 24 vehicles, killing seven and injuring 17.

1956: It was 98° in Escondido, the highest temperature on record for November.
This also occurred on 11.2.1997.

1954: A heavy storm dumped two inches of rain on San Bernardino and up to six inches in the nearby mountains.
Flash floods and debris flows covered the mountains.
Floodwaters inundated many parts of San Bernardino and mud slides blocked and damaged mountain roads.

1946: Priest Valley had a low temperature of 11° -- a record for the month.

1879: 2.75" of rain fell on 11.9 and on this day in San Diego, the greatest 24-hour rainfall on record for November.
