HAWAIIAN VOLCANO OBSERVATORY CURRENT STATUS REPORT

Scientists of the USGS Hawaiian Volcano Observatory conducted ground observations of the June 27th lava flow in the area of the transfer station and Cemetery Rd. earlier today, November 13, 2014. Small scattered breakouts were still active downslope of Apa`a St./Cemetery Rd., a short distance north of the cemetery. Breakouts were active a short distance upslope of Cemetery Road along the south margin of the existing flow. The flow that partly filled the low truck access road around the transfer station was stalled today with only a small breakout observed. Upslope of the transfer station, a lobe traveling northeast remained active, and was approximately 300 meters (330 yards) upslope of Apa`a St.

An overflight is scheduled for Friday.
