A small tornado touched down in South Los Angeles on Friday, according to the National Weather Service. The incident happened in the 5800 block of Estrella Avenue some time before noon, as a storm pummeled the area.
Resident Jamie Mena captured incredible footage of the EF0 twister -- the weakest type -- as it spun through the neighborhood, scattering debris and bending trees.
ABC7 Chief Meteorologist Dallas Raines said he was confident the NWS would declare the event a tornado because of tell-tale characteristics he saw in the footage.
"Because of the cyclonic twist of the debris," Raines said.
It was not clear how much damage the tornado caused and there were no immediate reports of injuries.
National Weather Service investigators will determine if the wicked weather was, in fact, a tornado.
