One thing I like about the OLD movie "Earthquake" is that ... while it has big damage effects & the usual seedy plot, there were no gaping faults.  The "science" dialog, although vague, was reasonable for the day.  I don't think they even ever said what the magnitude was.  Besides, a graduate student predicted it.  THAT was a good earthquake movie.
