DECA: Good news and congratulations goes out to VVHS for a second year straight! Volcano Vista DECA was awarded the highest level of recognition by National DECA for our community service and school outreach. VVHS DECA is more than a business class and a club - we're proud Hawks who make a difference in our community!

AP NIGHT: For all interested students and parents . . . This coming Tuesday evening, January 13 . . . VVHS will be presenting a night of AP (Advanced Placement) class information! Pre-registration for next year is just around the corner . . . take this opportunity to come and meet our excellent staff of AP teachers, and hear about the many offerings that are available to get you ready for college, and even earn college credit while you are still a Hawk! Got questions about Advanced Placement? We've got the answers! So . . . this Tuesday, January 13, from 6 to 7 p.m. in the Performing Arts Center. AP Information Night. Seniors there is still time to apply and plenty of scholarships available. Stop by the college and career center between 11:00 and 1:00 for information. Or visit the counseling department's website and look at the scholarship bulletin! Don't miss out on your opportunity !
JUNIORS: If you took the PSAT test last October, you may pick up your results from Mrs. Sandy in the Health Academy Office on either Wednesday or Thursday. Results will be available from 6:45 to 7:25 am and at lunch on both days. Sophomores will receive their results in their English class.
The Army National Guard will have a representative available during lunch on Tuesday January 13th for anyone interested. The rep will be in the lower E-F Concourse area during lunch.
The E-Cademy Spring 2015 registration opens January 5th for all students. Please make an appointment with your Academy Counselor to register if you need to recover credit. The registration fee is $25 cash or money order to be paid to your academy Counselor when you register. The registration period is open until January 14th, 2015, don't miss out if credit recovery is needed.:
ATHLETICS:
Girls tennis players interested in getting ready for the upcoming season should plan on participating in pre-season hitting sessions. These hitting sessions will be held Tuesday afternoons at Sierra Vista from 3:30 to 5 p.m. beginning this Tuesday, Jan. 13. Players need a current sports physical in order to participate. Contact Coach Kappus if you have any questions.
Congrats to the BOYS & GIRLS BASKETBALL teams for 2 good wins last night. The boys were lead in scoring by David Cormier and Jackson Schaap, rebounding by Bobby Padilla and assists by Jose Vigil and Jacob McNeely. Melissa Mancha scored 16 points for the Girls team and Raven Herrera scored 31 to lead the way. Both teams play Friday. The Boys play at Eldorado at 5:30pm and the girls play at Rio Grande at 7:15. Go out and support the Hawks!

Wrestling has a meet against Cibola tonight at 7.
Swimming has a meet on Saturday beginning at 8:30 at West Mesa pool.
