Volcano researcher and writer Dave Tucker will talk about Mount Baker on Sunday, Nov. 8, at the Ferndale Public Library.

"Mount Baker: the Active Volcano in Our Backyard," is the title of his talk. He also will discuss the Cascadia Subduction Zone, which brings earthquake and tsunami danger to the coastal region, the nonprofit Whatcom County Preppers said, referring to a New Yorker article.

The event is 2:15 to 4:30 p.m. in the library's meeting room, 2125 Main St., with Tucker's presentation lasting an hour. He is director of the Mount Baker Volcano Research Center.

The Preppers also will talk about putting together emergency evacuation bags as recommended by the American Red Cross and the Federal Emergency Management Agency.
