FOREST FALLS, Calif. (KABC) --
Last week's storms fueled by El Nino are long gone, but for people living in some mountain areas, the storms continue to cause problems.

While the same storm brought much-needed snow to local ski resorts, it also caused severe damage to property.

Tree removal crews remained busy on Monday cutting limbs away from power lines in Forest Falls. Several trees were reported falling into homes and cars.

In all, six homes were destroyed.

"It was an exceptional event with the amount of snow, damaging houses, taking out powerlines and phone lines," Capt. Jeff Britton with the San Bernardino County Fire Department's Forest Falls station said.

Toppled trees also knocked out power to the entire community for several days. Crews with Southern California Edison were still working to restore power to some on Monday.

In the video above, ABC7 Eyewitness News reporter Leticia Juarez talks with residents as they continue to recover from the storm.
