[californiadisasters] Re: Pineapple Express Headed To California

It's La Niña -- meaning below average season rainfall -- but not yet: downpour forecast beginning Thursday
San Jose Mercury News-12/15/10
By Mark Gomez

Just last week, weather scientists with the National Weather Service said we're in a La Niña season, meaning there is a good chance the Bay Area will see below average rainfall totals this season.

It certainly won't seem that way this weekend.

A series of storms packing strong winds is expected to pound the Bay Area beginning as early as tonight and could deliver as much as five inches of rain to the region, according to the National Weather Service.

Simply put, it's going to be "really, really wet," said Diana Henderson, a forecaster with the National Weather Service.
