...UNSEASONABLY HOT WEATHER EXPECTED FOR MUCH OF SOUTHWESTERN
CALIFORNIA THROUGH AT LEAST THURSDAY...

UNSEASONABLY WARM TEMPERATURES WILL PERSIST ACROSS MUCH OF THE
FORECAST AREA THROUGH AT LEAST THURSDAY...AS A STRONG UPPER LEVEL
HIGH PRESSURE SYSTEM OVER SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA COMBINED WITH OFFSHORE
FLOW WILL BRING AN EXTENDED PERIOD OF HEAT TO THE REGION. GUSTY
NORTHEAST WINDS WILL INCREASE THROUGH TUESDAY MORNING WITH LOCAL
GUSTS 30 TO 45 MPH EXPECTED ACROSS THE WIND PRONE PASSES AND CANYONS
OF LOS ANGELES AND VENTURA COUNTIES.

THE WEAK TO MODERATE SANTA ANA EVENT WILL INITIALLY BE STRONG ENOUGH
TO CAUSE A WIDESPREAD WARM UP TO THE COASTAL AREAS TOMORROW
AFTERNOON. THE WARMEST TEMPERATURES LIKELY REACHING THE LOWER 90S
ACROSS THE COASTAL AREAS OF VENTURA AND LOS ANGELES COUNTIES...WHILE
THE VALLEYS WARM UP TO AROUND 90...WITH A FEW SITES POSSIBLY
REACHING THE LOWER 90S. THE CENTRAL COAST WILL ALSO FEEL THE AFFECTS
OF THE OFFSHORE FLOW...WARMING TEMPERATURES INTO THE UPPER 80S TO
AROUND 90 DEGREES ON TUESDAY.

THE OFFSHORE FLOW WILL LIKELY WEAKEN A TAD ON WEDNESDAY...WHICH WILL
ALLOW THE LOS ANGELES AND VENTURA COUNTY VALLEYS TO WARM UP TO THE
MID TO UPPER 90S...WHILE THE COAST CONTINUES TO STAY IN THE LOWER TO
MID 90S. EXPECT SOME HIGH TEMPERATURE RECORDS TO BE BROKEN OVER THE
NEXT FEW DAYS...ESPECIALLY ON WEDNESDAY.

BY THURSDAY...TEMPERATURES SHOULD GRADUALLY BEGIN TO COOL AS A
RETURN OF THE SEABREEZE IS EXPECTED ACROSS THE COASTAL AREAS BY THE
AFTERNOON. VALLEY TEMPERATURES SHOULD REMAIN IN THE LOWER 90S...WITH
COASTAL AREAS EXPERIENCING THE BEST COOLING WITH TEMPS RANGING FROM
THE MID 70S TO MID 80S.

A MORE EXTENSIVE COOLING WILL LIKELY ARRIVE THIS WEEKEND AS AN
APPROACHING TROUGH WILL REPLACE THE RIDGE OF HIGH PRESSURE BRINGING
TEMPERATURES DOWN TO MORE NORMAL FOR THIS TIME OF YEAR.

ALTHOUGH IT IS THE BEGINNING OF NOVEMBER...WITH TEMPERATURES
EXPECTED TO REACH THE UPPER 90S...REMEMBER TO STAY HYDRATED BY
DRINKING PLENTY OF FLUIDS...AND NEVER LEAVE CHILDREN...THE ELDERLY
AND PETS IN ENCLOSED AUTOMOBILES...EVEN FOR A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME.
EVEN IF THE WINDOWS ARE PARTIALLY OPEN...TEMPERATURES CAN QUICKLY
RISE TO LIFE THREATENING LEVELS.

...HOT WEATHER ACROSS SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA THE NEXT FEW DAYS...

HIGH PRESSURE ALOFT AND OFFSHORE FLOW WILL BRING HOT AND DRY
WEATHER WITH TEMPERATURES RUNNING 10 TO 20 DEGREES ABOVE AVERAGE
EACH AFTERNOON THROUGH THURSDAY. THE HEAT WILL BE CONCENTRATED IN
THE COASTAL VALLEYS AND INLAND EMPIRE WHERE AFTERNOON TEMPERATURES
WILL SOAR INTO THE 80S AND 90S.

EXPECTED HIGH TEMPERATURES TUESDAY THROUGH THURSDAY...

COASTAL AREAS................80 TO 90.
INLAND ORANGE COUNTY.........86 TO 96.

UPPER DESERTS................80 TO 88.
LOWER DESERTS................91 TO 96.

ALTHOUGH IT WILL BE HOT DURING THE MID DAY...THE AIR WILL BE VERY
DRY AND THE HUMIDITY LOW. THIS WILL ALLOW THE ATMOSPHERE TO COOL
RAPIDLY AFTER DARK. WARMEST AREAS OVERNIGHT WILL BE WHERE ANY WIND
CONTINUES THROUGH AND BELOW PASSES AND CANYONS.

VISITORS...TOURISTS...HIKERS...AND ANYONE WORKING OUTDOORS THROUGH
THURSDAY SHOULD TAKE THE NECESSARY PRECAUTIONS TO PREVENT HEAT

POSSIBLE. IF YOU HAVE TO BE OUTSIDE AT MID DAY...DRINK PLENTY OF
WATER. WEAR LIGHTWEIGHT LOOSE-FITTING CLOTHING AND WEAR A HAT TO

HIGH PRESSURE INLAND WILL WEAKEN ENOUGH BY FRIDAY TO ALLOW THE SEA
