Subject: [californiadisasters] Needles Incident - SBC
Currently there is a wind-driven fire running through the heavily-vegetated Colorado Riverbottom in the Needles area (or as locals not in Needles call it, "Needless").
Both SoCalFire and Southern-California-Fire-Notifications groups are giving good updates from Chris Nichols and here on the Hotlist is a thread to follow:
http://wildlandfire.com/hotlist/showthread.php?t=17997
Last check the fire was running in the wind at over 100 acres and jumping road.
Yesterday there was a fire in the National City area in San Diego County.
Last month saw a bad wind-driven fire in Big Pine in the Owens Valley that destroyed homes.
The 2011 Fire Season is underway!
