08/21/2013	1930	12 new lightning fires reported on the Modoc, Susanville BLM, Plumas, Tahoe, Eldorado and Lake Tahoe Management Unit. Precipitation has been reported in many areas.
08/21/2013	1900	CA-TNF American Fire: 16,779 acres, 60% contained. Expected containment 9/1/2013. IMT 1 (Opliger). Fire growth continued in the southeastern portion of the fire this operational shift. Partial road closure of Mosquito Ridge Road west of French Meadows Reservoir for public and firefighter safety occurred this afternoon due to fire activity. Cloud cover moderated fire spread. CA-SRF Corral Fire: 8,946 acres, 0% contained. Expected containment 10/1/2013. Unified Command (Joseph/Mendes). The fire continued to spread through creeping and backing fire today as the cloud cover maintained a smoke inversion over the fire area. Firefighters continued to prep firelines in the north portion of the fire for a planned firing operation during tomorrow's operational shift. CA-SRF Butler Fire: 19,538 acres, 35% contained. Expected containment 9/15/2013. NIMO (Quisenberry). Cloud cover moderated fire behavior during first part of operational period, but thunderstorms created outflow winds that increased fire behavior later in the shift. Some measurable precipitation occurred. A spot fire was reported by night shift south of Orleans Mountain and day shift resources made good progress to contain the spot. CA-PNF Hough Complex: 420 acres, 40% contained. Expected containment 8/24/2013. IMT 2 (Nunez). Fire behavior varied throughout the day with active backing to group torching and short fire runs during wind gusts from thundercells. Some rain was received over the fire today. An IR flight is scheduled for tonight to aid in accurate mapping of fires. Reduction in acreage due to double report of same fire in different locations. CA-KNF Salmon River Complex: 14,335 acres, 95% contained. Expected containment 8/22/2013. IMT 2 (Wakoski). Mop up, patrol and holding of firelines continues. CA-BTU Swedes Fire: 2,462 acres, 95% contained. Expected containment 8/22/2013. CAL FIRE IMT 1 (Zombro). Creeping and smoldering. Fire suppression repair being conducted. CA-SHU Burney LCA: 190 acres, 95% contained. Expected containment 8/21/2013. IMT 3 (Truax). Creeping and smoldering. Mop up continues. CA-LNF Murken Fire: 86 acres; 80% contained. Mop up continues.
