This is Homecoming Week
Congratulations to the seniors for winning the powderpuff game last night. Thank-you to all the clubs and athletic teams that participated in the carnival. It was a great success.
Today is Twin Day
Wednesday is Color War Day: Seniors wear Blue, Juniors wear Platinum, Silver or Grey, Sophomores wear white and Freshman wear Black.
Thursday is Dress up day. We will be on a long assembly schedule for the coronation assembly. We will be playing Eldorado at Community Stadium for the Homecoming Football game at 7. Come to the first annual Bird Bowl as the Hawks take on the Eagles.
Friday is: Would you still be my friend if I wore this?
Please remember that you must be in dress code on all dress up days.
Saturday evening is the dance from 8pm to 11pm. If you would like to make suggestions for the music you would like to hear at the dance there is a PINK box located outside of the Activities Office where you can write down your choices. Please include the name of the song and the artist.
HOMECOMING TICKETS are on sale today for $20.00 in the Activities Office during lunch. You must have your current student ID to purchase a ticket. If you are bringing a guest that does not attend Volcano Vista please have the completed permission slip with you when you purchase your tickets. Each student is limited to one ticket and one guest. Ticket prices go up to $25 on Thursday.
STUDENT AMBASSADORS: If you are part of the Wells/Jones student ambassador group, meet on Wednesday at lunch in Room E203 for pizza and planning.
KEY CLUB: Do you like helping people? Do you like being awesome? If you answered yes. Then you should join the VVHS Key Club AKA Wing Squad! in F111 at lunch, on Fridays. Also remember to bring your $11 for your club dues!
BOWLING TEAM: All students who are considering the bowling team are urged to attend a player and parent meeting at the start of Tuesdays practice. Paperwork and or physicals are not required only a little interest in the bowling team. This meeting is very important. Again the meeting is Tuesday at 4:00 at Tenpins and More Bowling Center. All interested students please attend and bring a parent/guardian with you.
NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY MEMBERS: Our next meeting is Monday, October 21, at lunch in Mrs. Green's classroom. Monday, October 21, is the last day to turn in T Shirt money to Mrs. Jones. We will be reviewing tutoring and service hours and planning the canned food drive at this meeting. See you Monday, Oct 21, at lunch in E 214.
Best Buds will meet Friday during lunch.
Announcement for HONOR CHOIR participants: There is a mandatory rehearsal today, Tuesday 10/15 from 2:45 - 3:45 pm in the choir room. All students must attend this rehearsal. Also, choir students auditioning for All State must have their permission slips and HAWK forms in by Friday in order to audition. Please see Ms. Clark if you need a form.
Driver's Ed will not be held today. Class will resume on Wednesday. See you then!
COUNSELING:
Juniors: The PSAT is TOMORROW! If you signed up to take the PSAT, please check the posted room list! We will NOT be testing in the Lecture Hall. If you cannot find your Student ID number on the list, see Mrs. Sandy in E216. BRING A PICTURE ID! you will not be admitted without one. We will be done testing in time for lunch.
Sophomores: ALL sophomores will be taking the PLAN tomorrow morning. Check the posted room listing for your room assignment. You will be done testing in time for lunch. The PLAN is the practice ACT...ACT WILL BE SCORING THE TEST so take it seriously!
ATHLETICS:
- Football plays Thursday night against the Eldorado Eagles.
- G. Soccer plays Cibola on Wednesday at APS Soccer Plex and Saturday vs. Rio Rancho at Home.
- B. Soccer plays Cibola on Wednesday and Rio Rancho on Friday--both are at VVHS.
- Volleyball plays at Rio Rancho on Tuesday and at Cleveland on Thursday.
