If anyone lost a pair of prescription glasses, please come to the activities office.

Next week is Homecoming Week!

Monday: Carnival down in the Gym concourse area from 4:30 to 6. The powderpuff football game will begin at 6:30. Cost is $5.00. Come watch the SENIORS demolish the juniors!

Monday is a school spirit day. If you are supporting the seniors wear black and if you are supporting the juniors wear white.

All Powderpuff participants your t-shirts will be here at the end of the day. Stop by the Activities Office to purchase one for $5.00.

Tuesday is Twin Day

Wednesday is Color War Day: Seniors wear Blue, Juniors wear Platinum, Silver or Grey, Sophomores wear white and Freshman wear Black.

Thursday is Dress up day. We will be on a long assembly schedule for the coronation assembly. We will be playing Eldorado at Community Stadium for the Homecoming Football game at 7.

Friday is: Would you still be my friend if I wore this?

Please remember that you must be in dress code on all dress up days.

Saturday evening is the dance from 8pm to 11pm.  If you would like to make suggestions for the music you would like to hear at the dance there is a box outside of the Activities Office where you can write down your choices. Please include the name of the song and the artist.

Homecoming tickets are on sale today for $20.00 in the Activities Office during lunch. You must have your current student ID to purchase a ticket. If you are bringing a guest that does not attend Volcano Vista please have the completed permission slip with you when you purchase your tickets. Each student is limited to one ticket and one guest.

MARCHING BAND- The band has arranged a fund raising day at two Twister locations on Monday October 14th.     A portion of the proceeds from purchases made with an event coupon will go the band.  To get a coupon, see any band member or the band booster's website at VVHSBAND.org

The marching band has it's first competition  at the Pageant of Bands this Saturday at 2:15pm. Wilson Stadium

Attention MESA members...we will be having our weekly lunch meeting in Mr G's room...G203...today at lunch.

Student ambassadors for Mrs. Casaus and Mrs. Maestas will meet today during lunch in F206. 

Bowling team.  Volcano Vista Bowling team coach is pleased to announce that the first practice of the season took place yesterday with a good turn out of students looking to participate.  However there is room for anyone looking to join.  Next practice is on Friday - 4:00 at Tenpins and More.  Coach Hampel also stresses the importance of the team and parent meeting for Tuesday at Tenpins and More - regardless of your paperwork status please be at this practice.

Converge, the on-campus student-led Bible study, will be meeting today (Wednesday) during lunch in the LECTURE HALL. Please come and bring a friend!

MATH NHS The following Mu Alpha Theta,  Math NHS members need to meet in the freshman academy office at 11:30 to do lunch cleanup: Aubie Knell, Michael Sanchez, Zach Vaughn, Mario Thompson, Jake Wardell, Ryan Wardell, Kyleigh Mayo, Alex Ware, Michael Fuller, Mary Clair Rizzardi, Shannon Calihan.

Mu Alpha Theta, Math NHS will meet next Monday in room G107.  We will discuss our induction ceremony.  All members should attend if possible. Reminder, Check the Mu Alpha Theta Poster outiside Ms. Conell's room, F103 for the latest club news and upcoming events.

Faculty/Staff and students, administrators will be coming by during 5th period this week and next to recognize students that received a 3.5 GPA or HIGHER for the 1st  6 week grading period.  Close to 30% of the school population have a 3.5 GPA or higher.  Congratulations to all these students and the school challenges all of our students to push to reach this 3.5 or higher GPA goal.

BSU Officers meeting is today during lunch 

Step-Team practice & BSU meeting will be on Wednesday, October 9th during lunch

COUNSELING:

Juniors: If you signed up to take the PSAT and did not receive your study guide stop by the Health Academy office (E216) TODAY at lunch to pick one up.

Congratulations to Hayley Stueber, Kelly Strickland, and Mackenzie Steckbeck for receiving Letters of Commendation from the National Merit Scholarship Program! Way to go!

ECademy registration for the Winter term in currently open.  If you need to recover a credit, make an appointment with your academy Counselor to sign up for the Winter Term  of ECademy which begins November 18th.  Bring $25 cash registration fee and the counselor will assist you with the rest.

 

ATHLETICS:

  • Cross Country will run on Saturday at the Metro Championship at Academy
  • Football plays Del Norte on Friday at Community Stadium at 7. This is their Pink Out
    game.
  • G. Soccer plays at Rio Rancho today at 6 and plays Cleveland on Saturday at VVHS at 11.
  • B. Soccer plays at Cleveland on Saturday at 11.
  • Volleyball plays at St. Pius on Thurs. at 6:30
  • And finally- have a great 4 day weekend. Be safe and we will see you next Monday to watch the Seniors destroy the Juniors in the 5th annual Powderpuff game!
