[californiadisasters] Exercise Opportunity: Alerting Anxiety - A Campus Notification Exercise

The possibility of an emergency or disaster occurring at any one of the nation's universities or colleges is a real one. While emergency personnel will focus on responding to the event, it is imperative that students, staff, faculty and others are provided with timely and accurate information in regards to the actions that individuals should take based on the current situation.

So what’s a university or college to do?

For starters, universities and colleges are encouraged to participate in Alerting Anxiety – A Campus Notification Exercise.

This exercise will serve as an opportunity for university and college public safety and emergency management staff to work through scenario information and injects dealing with the activation of your institution's emergency notification system.

The objective of the exercise is for participants:

  • To determine whether or not to issue a notification based on the scenario and current procedures.
  • To determine the kind of information that should be included in the notification when issued.

This exercise is being offered at NO CHARGE to 50 of the nation’s universities or colleges.

For additional information and to become one of the 50 universities or colleges to participate in this unique exercise, you will need to access the following web site and submit an “Information Request Form”.
