Yes, Harrison Ford was fortunate that he did land on a golf course! The undercarriage probably got torn up on contact with the trees and grass but he received relatively minor injuries. The other benefit to landing on the golf course was he did not have to schedule an appointment to see the doctor(s)!
Not his first crash either. Had an incident in a helicopter a few years back. Bad pilot - no; he survived a couple of unfortunate incidents. Actually, Harrison has participated in a couple of successful Search and Rescue events while on a call out with his SAR group - http://abcnews.go.com/Entertainment/story?id=103690

Any landing, either by fixed wing or rotor wing is a controlled crash! Most have better outcomes but this was definitely a survivable event. The other lucky folks, today, are the ones that were in the Delta jet the almost slid into the icy waters next to La Guardia!
I was watching a news conference in which someone had asked the NTSB about how dangerous aircraft were. The NTSB representative remarked that it was still much safer than driving (my paraphrasing). The locals are still looking for an angle to shut down SaMo Airport.
